Peace and Social Concerns

Our Meeting engages in a variety of peace and social concerns, including activities and projects with other churches within the Reno/Sparks area. These activities are discussed and planned by our Peace & Social Concerns Committee, which meets on the 1st Sunday of each month after morning worship. Contact Martin Rochford, our committee's clerk, for more information.

On February 15, Jeanne Wendel, a UNR professor of economics and a colleague of Elliott's, will discuss her experiences with Iraq reconstruction as well as (possibly) some of the issues regarding the high cost of prescription drugs and the provision of these drugs to combat AIDS and other diseases in the developing world.  On March 7, Elliott Parker will lead a second discussion on globalization issues.  On March 21, we are scheduled to have Brother Jahahara speak about AFSC’s Africa Initiative.
